"Sleep is better than medicine." proverb
School has begun and late nights have come to an end.
Making sure children get enough rest can be a challenge. Children often seem like they never want to sleep and sometimes, we adults forget that children need more than the average 8 hours a night.
Children ages 5 to 12 need an average of 10 to 11 hours of sleep each day. Poor sleep habits effect diet, moods and immunity.
Getting proper rest will promote a good immune system, contribute to peak performance and enhance cognitive skills.
Remember to encourage proper rest and sleep habits for your child. Have a consistent bedtime ritual and routine. Avoid sugar and caffeine consumption as bedtime approaches. These are just a few simple rules to put in place to promote a longer and more restful nights sleep for your child.
The better a child sleeps the more cheerful and happier the whole family will be.
