This week in force health and fitness

"We are underexercised as a nation. We look instead of play. We ride instead of walk. Our existence deprives us of the minimum of physical activity essential for healthy living." John F. Kennedy

If John Kennedy said this in the sixties, imagine what he would say today. Being physical is essential to a healthy lifestyle, healthy aging and enjoyment of life to its fullest.

It is important as parents and coaches that we encourage our children to be active, to fuel the body instead of feed it and to see who they are on the inside as well as the outside as being a magnificiant creation.

The generation of our children will grow to become the generation who exerperiences those preventable lifestyle diseases at a much younger age. It has been stated that the life expectantcy of adults will decrease when this generation becomes adults. The reason being, is that this generation plays video games inside rather than riding their bikes outside. This generation thinks good food comes out of a box and vegtables are eaten only as a side dish rather than the main staple of their plate.
This generation doesn't know what it is like to play outside from dusk until dawn.

We can teach them. Be an encouragement to your child to play outside the walls of the house everyday. Encourage your child to try new foods, good foods. Learn with them, model it to them.

Lets help our children beat the odds of what the statistics say is in store for them.
