This week in force health and fitness

What drink is important to avoid?

DIET SODA

What? Yep it is true you soda addicts. Diet soda will cause weight gain, bloating and loss of calcium.
How can diet soda cause weight gain if it contains 0 calories? An eight year study by the University of Texas Science Center in San Antonio uncovered that diet soda drinkers actually gained weight. One theory is that the sweet taste actually makes you crave "real" sugar therefore causing one to seek outthose high fat sweet treats to eat.

Sodas, both the real deal and diet are highly acidic and contain phosphoric acid. When you have too much phosphorus your body wants to balance it with calcium so it starts pulling it away from the bones. This will set you up for calcium depletion and osteoporosis down the road.

Remember that regular soda is loaded with sugar and caffeine and it is not a good idea for your children to develop a soda habit okay.
Allow these sweet drinks only on occasion and opt for tea, water and 100% fruit juices on a regular basis.

Parents, make sure when you want to quench your own thirst you set an example and make good choices. You know what that means don't you!

SODA --- NO, NO, NO
TEA OR WATER ---YES, YES, YES
