"An Apple a day can keep the Doctor away"

We have all grown up hearing this quote. I heard this many times as a child in an effort to get me to eat more fruit. Here's the question., Is it really true that an apple a day can keep the doctor away.

Here are some facts about the apple.

*Apples are high in Vitamin C. We all know Vit.C is good for the immune system
*Apples are a good natural mouth freshener.
*Apples are a good source of soluble an insoluble fiber.
*Apples are good in preventing cholesterol buildup an improving bowel function.
*Apples have been found to reduce the risk of stroke and type II diabetes.
*Studies have shown that 5 apples a week may help lower the risk of Asthma.

These are just a few facts about the nutritious value of the Apple and there are many more.Looking at just a few of these facts it just may be true that an apple a day will keep the doctor away.

Make sure your children eat an apple here and there and set the example by indulging in one yourself.
